Just Words

I was just sitting here thinking about words. What are words? They are just sound waves drifting through the air created through a miracle and received though another marvel.

The ability to speak and to hear is truly a miracle.
What about words in print? Are there no miracles here? Ah, the ability to read and write. What a wonder. The words reach out and grab the soul by the throat or gently touch the heart. Words drift through the air as smoke from a neglected cigarette. The ash precariously dangling until it suddenly drops into your lap. Sometimes hot and burning, and other times as cold as ascetic ashes in a tomb.
