Merry Christmas & Blessed Kwanzaa

Merry Christmas & Blessed Kwanzaa!!

Spread a little cheer
during this magical season
even the most wicked
can believe in a reason;
if you spread the cheer.

Back when i was a child of 8 or 9. I was sound asleep on that Christmas Eve Night. We lived in a small bungalow next to railroad tracks and I slept in the attic. A noise on the roof awoke me in the cold of night. My eyes popped opened, listened for another noise. I faintly heard the jingle of bells. Up out of bed i rushed to the small attic window. There in the clear sky i saw tiny reindeer, a sleigh and yes Jolly Saint Nick.

Rubbing my eyes i took a second look and this image was still there. Then i heard a small voice say, "Merry Christmas and Goodwill to All."

A bit surprised and a bit scared i ran down the stairs, sure enough the cookies and milk were gone. Presents fill the room next to the Christmas Tree. My father's voice came from his bedroom, "why are up Rg?" "Daddy i just saw Santa Claus, I did I did, i exclaimed!" With a small laughter in his voice he said, " OK son, well go back to bed, its only 5:00 am."

Now you may say, there's no Santa Claus. But explain these things. I saw with my eyes, I heard with my ears and I spoke to my father. Once Christmas morning came and the whole family was opening presents, my mom said to me, "so you saw Santa Claus Rg?" "Yes I did, Yes I did, mommy." Both dad and mom smiled and said, "well, see there, there really is a Santa Claus."

Later that day i over heard my dad and mom ask each other when they bought the bike for me, both denied buying it to each other. My eyes gleamed, my heart fluttered. I wanted that bike so much but, ya know, I got a much better gift. The gift of seeing and knowing every childs dreams. The dream of Santa Claus. He 'is' real.

Merry Christmas & Blessed Kwanzaa

First Day of Winter

First Day of Winter

Ah, the first day of winter and 'tis the season, as they say. What a time it is. The joy of wrapping presents in paper that rips and tears, rumbled and crinkled, presents that you trudged around desperately looking for just the right thing and settling for whatever because your feet hurt.
The lovely aroma of potpourri simmering on the stove, reminding you of your nanny's kitchen, quickly turning from pumpkin pie to burned charcoal because you forgot to replenish the water. Ah, the memories.
Missing friends that you long to see and seeing friends that you'd rather miss. Everyone's fuse is short and mini-explosions occur constantly from small sparks of winter's static.
Just what are we supposed to do? Continue the charade by loving each other in spite of each other, working together with one heart, one mind, and one purpose.

This RollinGuest is really Witt. What else can go wrong?
