"Raven"

jeans. you were in a pair of blue jeans.
wet around about the bottom. the rain fell.
lasted all day long.

born on July 2, 1983. we celebrate
all of your birthdays. twenty you are.
can you be normal for just a few?

sexy and smart. silence falls through the ceiling
of despair. combined that with your quiet confidence,
you have brought to me, a sense of togetherness
with the world we want to be a part of.
how do I love you.

a bird flies over. more waves
crash the shore,
I can not forget myself for making such a rude remark of
"you look so damn sexy in that white t-shirt."

how great is the water, your touch is so soft.
kissing your neck, blissfully and beautifully expressing
your love for me. how does
the days ever end in a stormy light!

soon, you sing for me- full band.
you and the boys sing and rock
for my musical pleasure. oh how can I repay you
for your gifts?

the dinners with your parents proved that you
and me are of one. how nice is that. and we can kiss
each other right in front of them. only does it seem
to be rude despite not having any reservations
about such a thing.

so, when you danced a little in the rain
(despite you saying that you are a horrible dancer),
it was pure pleasure. and smiles
and laughter erupt in our bond,
never divides or interrupts our love for each other.

and I finish this poem with nothing but a becoming silence
of our love. that we are of one person. our relationship
is a person. Raven. you are so successful in your life.
