Nancy Belinda Interview - Interview, Spoken Word -

Nancy Lorenza Green is a Black Chicana from El Paso, Texas and Cd. Ju�rez, Chihuahua. Nancy is a writer and a musician who uses percussion instruments and flute music as mediums of communication and cultural expression. She holds a Master of Education degree from Cambridge College in Massachusetts. A community activist who focuses on women’s issues, Nancy performed at the I Am Your Sister Conference honoring Audre Lorde in Boston, Massachusetts. Her cd Music from the Heart is a compilation

Nancy regularly conducts writing residencies for Tumblewords in El Paso, Texas. She has performed her poetry at the Border Book Festival in Las Cruces, New Mexico, at the El Paso Women’s Writer’s Collective event for women’s history month, at La Fe’s Quetzalcoatl Caf�, and La Mujer Obrera. Nancy’s poetry has been published in Border Senses, Chrysalis, and online in poetry.com. She has worked as a visiting artist with the Ysleta Arts Alive program with K-3rd grade students and their teachers in six Ysleta pre-k and elementary schools. She is currently an artist in residence with the Division of Blind Services where she is conducting percussion workshops for visually impaired students, their parents and their siblings.

As former Coordinator for the City of El Paso Arts Resources Department, Nancy has working knowledge of grant writing, arts program coordination and evaluation.
