Belinda Subraman Presents Gypsy Art #10 Interview With Dick Bakken

Interview Dick Bakken

Dick Bakken of Bisbee, Arizona, did a 20-reading new book tour of the West in 2003—El Paso to Seattle, Berkeley to Santa Fe—to promote Twin Towers (Carrington Press, 2003), his response to the 9/11 WTC attacks, then again in 2004 to promote Dick Bakken: Greatest Hits (Pudding House Publications, 2005), which features his 12 most influential poems 1967–2002. To catch this relentless pioneer voicing poems without MS, mic, or podium, which has defined Bakken’s delivery—coast to coast—since 1973, long before “performance poet,” “spoken word,” and “slam” were labels anywhere near in vogue, hear his audio stereo cassette, The Other Side: Dick Bakken Live / Selected Voicings 1978–84 (Brushfire Publications, 1986). And check out “Orson Wells Interviews Poet Dick Bakken, Copper Queen Hotel Saloon, Labor Day, 2005,” at 'The Forbbiden Story Boards'. Greatest Hits, The Other Side, or his not-for-the-uptight-of-heart Feet with the Jesus (Lynx House Press, 1989) are available each $10.00 postpaid and signed from the author at dickbakken@yahoo.com.

Politically Sound With Stephanie Larocque On BZoO HomeGrown Radio

Stephanie Larocque Politically Sound Stephanie Larocque has an extensive background in the area of political science. She has for years worked to master and cultivate her craft in all areas of politics. She is what is known in political circles as a political "junkie" she lives and breaths politics.

It is not unusual for Stephanie to read up to three news papers a day and watch 3 different news stations in the course of 24 hours.

If something important is going on in the world, Stephanie will know about it. She uses a common sense approach in how she goes about dissecting the news and reading between the lines to avoid the spin and going right for the meat on the bone of any given story.

Stephanie Larocque has worked on many political campaigns in her country and comes from a very political family. She has been surrounded by politics her whole life.

Stephanie uses her knowledge in politics to inform and even educate as many people as she can.

Politics is no passing phase for Stephanie Larocque, she has spent her life learning her craft.

Stephanie's no nonsense, tell it like it is approach to politics is raw and she aims it right at the average person who she believes is the most important people when it comes to politics.

Tune into Politically Sound with Stephanie Larocque Exclusively on BZoO HomeGrown Radio - 24/7 Live Streaming or catch her podcast [here].

Play Cupid & Vote In CafeRg's Splash St Valentine's Day Poetry Competition

The Judges have reached a verdict, yes it took that long because all the poems were so close. Thank you for your patience.

The poems are ..not.. in the order which the judges choose, I felt we would keep that part to the end for a little suspense in the voting process.

Also Judge Bakken has made comments on his picks, which we will also keep to the end as not to influence the vote. His comments were very interesting, I think everyone will enjoy them.

Now its your turn to play cupid and vote for your favorite poem. To cast Your vote please go HERE.

The top poem will win a lovely bouquet of a dozen roses from Kingsgate Diamonds and both the top poem and the runner up will win the acclaimed slam poetry DVD SlamNation. If you blog within one of our blogging community sponsors you will also win blogging credits. Both will also be awarded SplashHall Challenge Banners.

Let me add to be in the top four itself is deserving of itself. To you four I congratulate you. To all that participated, well you are winners also, with the proof being in the length of time it took the Judges to qualify the top four.

Well give it up for the top four and show your support with your vote for the top two poems.

Voting ends Sunday evening Feb 12, 2006 and winners will be announced on the 13th of Feb.

"..here come da judge, here come da judge..."
